Commercial Fire Suppression Systems in Toronto & the GTA

Fire Suppression.
Ready When It Counts.

Installation, semi-annual inspection, repair and same-day discharge response for restaurant and commercial kitchen fire suppression systems, plus service for clean agent and paint booth systems.

The Service

Automatic fire suppression for the hazards sprinklers can't handle.

A fire suppression system is a pre-engineered system that discharges a chemical agent onto one specific hazard, such as a cooking line, a server room or a paint booth, the moment it detects fire. A sprinkler system protects a whole building with water; a suppression system targets one hazard with the agent that works best on it, and usually shuts off the fuel or power at the same time.

Boss Fire installs, inspects and repairs restaurant and commercial kitchen suppression systems across Toronto and the GTA, and services systems from all major manufacturers, including Ansul. Every visit ends with a tagged system and a written report for your insurer and fire inspector. For the twice-yearly kitchen inspection itself, see our kitchen hood suppression inspection service.

Discharged system? Call 905-519-BOSS. We respond same-day to reset the system, replace detection links and discharged cylinders, and get your kitchen back in service.

Fire suppression FAQs.

Still have questions? Call direct: 905-519-BOSS

What is a fire suppression system? +

A fire suppression system is a pre-engineered system that protects one specific hazard, such as a commercial cooking line, a server room or a paint booth. When it detects fire, it discharges a chemical agent (wet chemical, dry chemical or clean agent) directly onto the hazard and usually shuts off the fuel or power at the same time. Sprinkler systems, by contrast, protect a whole building with water.

Does my restaurant need a fire suppression system? +

If your cooking produces grease-laden vapours, from fryers, grills, ranges, woks or charbroilers, yes. NFPA 96, which the Ontario Fire Code references, requires a hood, exhaust system and an automatic fire-extinguishing system over that equipment, plus a Class K portable extinguisher nearby.

How often does a fire suppression system need to be inspected? +

Restaurant and commercial kitchen (wet chemical) systems and paint booth (dry chemical) systems need professional inspection and service every 6 months, with a monthly visual check by staff. Clean agent systems need the agent quantity and pressure checked every 6 months and a full inspection and test every year.

What happens after a fire suppression system discharges? +

Stop using the protected equipment and call 905-519-BOSS. The system has to be restored before cooking or operations resume: discharged cylinders and detection links are replaced, nozzles checked, the fuel and power shut-off reset and the system re-tested and tagged. We offer same-day discharge response across the GTA.

Do you service fire suppression systems installed by another company? +

Yes. We inspect and service systems from all major manufacturers, including Ansul, so you can switch providers without replacing equipment. Your first visit includes a full inspection and a written report on the system's condition.

Do you service clean agent and paint booth suppression systems? +

Yes. Along with restaurant systems, we inspect and service clean agent systems that protect server rooms, data centres and archives, and dry chemical systems in automotive and industrial paint booths. Call us to book a visit for your site.
